Okay, is everyone ready for the excitement to begin?? Competition season is here!! The girls have been working very hard to start competing this season, and we are all anxious to put on our red team shirts and cheer on our amazing Belles! It all starts on November 5th with the girls perform at their exhibition, and from there we go to Wilsonville on the 12th, and West Albany on the 19th!!

There are some important dates on the calendar, so as always make sure you are watching that closely!!

As a side note, the girls are supposed to be gathering pictures and working on their "secret sister" books as the year goes on. If you have ANY pictures, please get them to me (Misty Evans) and I can put them in the team photoalbum on Flickr. Then from there you can pick ones to print out. (feel free to email/call me with any questions.)

Hope everyone had a terrific October!!

Important Updates from Coach GaVette

Our first team performance will be Tuesday, September 6. JV and Varsity will need to meet at 1:45 PM in the gym to warm-up for the performance of the camp dance routine. If you are a freshman, you will report to the gym at 2:00 PM (please arrange this with your PRIDE teacher and Ignite mentors before Freshmen Olympics.) Please report to the gym wearing your long black jazz pants, a black leotard, a black sports bra, and your tie dye top.

The first day of school we will meet during first period only. Please come dressed to practice. After that, we will resume a regular practice schedule which will begin at 6:00 AM sharp. Please arrive to practice 5-10 minutes early in order to change shoes and get ready; remember, early is on time and on time is late. A calendar of additional practices and fundraisers will be passed out at a later date.

Also, our annual show routine will be performed at the halftime of the West Albany game September 9, 2011. JV and Varsity will need to report to the gym at 6:00 PM Friday evening. The focus of our first week of school will be working on our show routine. However, it is imperative that you prepare by practicing at home as well.

Finally, varsity will have their state formation practice with our drill writer, Robin Meier, on Saturday, September 10. We will hold practice 10:00 AM - 2:00 PM in the gym. Please mark this on your calendar!!!

General Reminders:
Drivers: Please make sure you stay on your assigned route unless otherwise approved by myself.  Make sure you stay where you can see ALL the girls at the same time, but they are not to all go to the same door together unless someone feel uncomfortable, then they may buddy up.  Please do not make any additional stops unless otherwise approved by myself (grocery store, ice cream, slurpees ect).  Drivers do not end their routes until 5:00pm unless otherwise cleared with Ashley.  We will be begin finishing up once drivers have finished their 5:00 drop.

Dancers: Please make sure you where your red team t-shirt and fundraiser appropriate bottoms.  Wear shoes that are good for walking, and leave anything at home that you don't want getting dirty.  You are to walk the route given to your driver and hit EVERY house unless your group agrees that something doesn't feel right about approaching that house.  You are to go to doors individually, not as a big group, unless you feel like you need a buddy for a particular house.  You need to bring your sack lunch with you, because if I give your car a lunch break and you don't have one there, we cannot wait for your parents to go get you something, you may end up eating on the road.  Please have your $60.00 and your helper for the day ready and with you when you check in before 7:45am.  Your helper MAY NOT be a boyfriend of anyone on the team, and you will need to find another helper if that's the case.

Dance Clinic

On May 21st, the South Albany Southern Belles held their annual Dance Clinic.  The event went from 8:30am until 2:00 pm.  Kids from Preschool on up to High School were taught a choreographed routine to preform for friends and family.  The 2010-2011 Southern Belle team taught the Preschool through Jr High group. The new members of the Belles were taught a routine by Ryan Sanford, Choreographer from Milwaukie High School. And, of course no event would be complete with out a performance from our very talented and beautiful Belles!!  Courtney & Alexis were able to take the floor one more time as Belles, and all of the girls looked fabulous! It was a wonderful time with a great turn out!! Thanks to all of the parents that helped out to make the clinic run smoothly!

If anyone has pictures from the day, please feel free to forward them on to Misty Evans, and she will make sure to get them posted.
